We have so much to praise God for, we know we should and mostly desire to, but just too often, the daily struggles and constant demand of life overshadow and drown our desire to focus on praise to God.
Despite this Praise is part of us. Our life is full of praises. Parents praise their kids, spouses praise each other, employees praise it workers and even the Government praises the citizens.
Praise towards others seems easy enough but why does it seem difficult when directed towards God? Could the answer be the state of our hearts? Luke 6:45 says “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks”
Could it be that our heart is lacking the good treasures needed to enact not just one-off but continuous praises to God? To be in a place where it becomes a habit and a desire to live a life of praise and gratitude to God, looking at the benefits and power of praise might be the push that we need.
Benefits and Power of Praise
- Praise brings us into God’s presence. Praise guarantees the presence of God; it gives us access to God. This is why the psalmist writes in Psalm 100:4 “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise…” In God’s presence there is the fullness of Joy and it is where all our needs are met. God’s presence is not a place in time, His presence is with us always. This means that our day to day living should be a praise-full one. When we live a life of praise we invite God to walk with us and be involved in every aspect of our lives. God’s presence brings joy, protection, victory and much more.
- Praise Guarantees Victory. If you find yourself not being productive or going through a barren phase, the best thing to do is tune into the presence of God through praise. Praise breaks down walls and removes barriers. The power of God through praise is still available today just like it was in the days of Judah (Judges 20:18). When we send praise to God before our day begins, it breaks down walls of and brings about supernatural victory.
- Praise Builds Our Relationship with God. Praise and Worship is one of the most powerful ways to build a relationship with God. The power of praise is that it gives us a great opportunity to get to know the Lord more; the nature of His love, Presence, faithfulness and desire for us. Praise and worship to God encourages us to develop our spiritual sensitivity and consciously walk in love and in God’s will.
- Praise cultivates Gratitude. When we praise God we are saying ‘Thank You’, for who He is and what He has done and is doing for us, in our lives and the lives of our family and friends. Psalm 7:17 puts this beautifully – “I will give thanks to the Lord because of His righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.” Praise helps us to see what is good, in God and all that we have and around us.
Ultimately, praise brings us into and makes use intently aware of God’s presence and power. Be encouraged, let praise arise from within you and be pleasantly surprised by what you will experience.
Much Love, Remi
