Holy week is the week before Easter. This week gives us the opportunity to reflect on the last days of Jesus Christ on earth.
The holy week starts with Palm Sunday and ends on Easter Sunday. The activities of this week many years ago includes the Last Supper, Jesus crucifixion and Easter Sunday, which is also called resurrection day. Easter is one of the most important tenets of the Christian faith.
Easter teaches us about sacrifice, the ultimate sacrifice God made through Jesus Christ, to save mankind. John 3:16: reads – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God sacrificed Jesus on the cross for us, so that if we will have power over sin and death and that when we die in the physical, we will live with God eternally.
Easter confirms the fulfilment of scripture; the resurrection of Jesus Christ third day, establishing Him as the son of God. Matthew 28:5-6: reads – “The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.'”
Easter is about victory. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ gave mankind victory over sin and death.
“He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ Luke 24: 6 – 7
Easter brings hope to us all. Hope that we will one day be reunited and reconciled back to God. This is possible through Jesus Christ.
The story of Easter did not end in death. It ended in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Victory for us all. The resurrection of Jesus Christ has given us all victory over sin and death – Hallelujah! Jesus paid the debt of sin for us all, its stronghold is broken and everyone who believes in Jesus is forgiven and is set free!
Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died and rose again on the third day, conquering death, freeing us all and giving us a way back to God through Him? If you do, rejoice, for you know how the story ends; in victory. If you don’t believe, I employ you to consider opening your heart to Jesus, invite him in to become your Lord and saviour and all the benefits of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is yours.
