“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
God sacrificed a lot; His only son to save us. Jesus endured a whole lot to reconcile us back to God; He became the truth and only way to God.
Although a sad and gruesome death, it was a love story written by God for us and so we must be thankful and filled with Joy for all Jesus did for us on the cross.
On the cross Jesus:
- Destroyed sin’s power and its stronghold over us. John 8:36 states “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed”
- He conquered death to give us eternal life. Romans 6:23 states “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”
- Gave us abundant eternal life. John 10:10 states “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly”.
The sacrifice, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ has given us everything we will ever need on earth and eternally. It has given us victory over sin, peace, joy forgiveness of sin and best of all, eternity with Him.
This Easter, I encourage you to rejoice for all you have in and through Jesus Christ. Rejoice because God loves you so much he gave His best (Jesus Christ), to save you. Rejoice for the story did not end on Friday, victory was manifested on Sunday – Hallelujah!
