“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. John 3:16
Easter is the story of hope. It is a story of how Jesus overcame darkness. It is a story of how we can overcome darkness and despair through hope in Jesus.
Easter is about love. It is about the love that God has for mankind, sacrifice of His only son to set us free from eternal death. He did this by sacrificing His only son, Jesus for us.
It is 2020 and Easter is different for many of us this year. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, we are unable to demonstrate our celebration of Easter. We are unable to go to church to fellowship with other believers. This now takes place online. We are also unable to travel to see family and friends to be together as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on the third day.
Although Easter is different this year, the meaning and reason for the season has not changed. Easter is still the story of redemption through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This season still invites us all to believe in the absolute transforming power of God’s love towards man. More so than ever before, the season has given us time to reflect, ponder and assess the meaning of love, hope and life. It is teaching us what is important in life. It is showing us that we all do have a purpose and a reason to be here, and it directing us towards God and exposing our hearts towards His love.
This Easter, I pray that we stand still enough to hear Him, to experience Him and in turn open our hearts wide to Him.
In this season, love and be kind to yourself. Reach out to others through technology. Stand at your doorway and wave to the neighbours from afar, say a hello from your window. Reach to others through technology; a phone call or video call will go a long way to bring a smile to someone’s face. In this season, lets do our part to be the beacon of hope during this critical time the world is going through.
