“But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.” Jonah 2:9
I love this verse…! Jonah is saying regardless of how I feel, of the opposition, of the fear, of the roadblocks along my way, of the inner turmoil, He will still be grateful to God and will give praise to Him. What he has promised God he will do, that is exactly what he will do.
How many of us stop right in our tracks when problems arise? We stop doing what we have promised God and ourselves that we will do and focus or caress the problem that has arisen. Like Jonah, we are encouraged to fight through inner turmoil and focus on God to help us through. Making good what we have promised God might not be easy, but with God’s help, we can accomplish anything we set our minds to.
