We live in societies where the intelligence of accomplished individuals and social media news is considered to be the final authority and so people put their trust in them and lives their lives according to their rules.
However, for the Christian, it is important never to forget that the only one in whom we are to place our trust in, is God! We must never put our trust in man, the things man has created or the ideas and ideologies portrayed by this world. They don’t have the ability to save us or provide the assurance that we human beings seek. Trusting in God means placing your confidence and hope in Him alone.
How do we trust God? We learn to trust Him by getting to know Him first and then building a relationship with Him. We would not trust a stranger we meet on the street with our money, just like we would with a bank we have been a customer to for years. In the same way, we should not thrust the intricacies of our lives into the hands of anything other than God.
So, how do we build our trust in God? We do this by studying His Word – the Bible, examining how He has and is working in our lives and learning to discern His voice and follow His instructions in obedience.
In the process of building a relationship, the Holy Spirit begins to help us understand His attributes; His infinite powers (Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent) and His personality – such as loving, kind, faithful, compassionate, trustworthy and loyal
There are numerous reasons why we should trust in God. For starters, He promises to surround us with His mercy – Psalm 32:10 “Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.
Another reason is that He promises to prosper us – Proverbs 28:25 declares “Those who trust in the Lord will be prospered”, and He promises to keep us safe and secure – proverbs 29:25 “the fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.”
Today, be encouraged to place your trust in the one who is capable to do exceedingly above and beyond all you can ever imagine.
As you start your day, entrust your ways, cares, concerns, even joy and happiness onto God. Wrap them all up in prayer, garnishing with faith, and watch Him make your life beautiful for His glory.
Until next time, stay uplifted, inspired and encouraged in God’s will.
